You might need to meet Stu the Social Media Animal Tamer.
No chairs and no whips but lots of understanding needed to make sure you don’t get on the raging side of this beast. Social Media can devour lots of time and leave you with nothing useful.
Social Media is a power tool when it is wielded with effect. However, most companies think they have struck social media gold when they are able to sign up and use the technology and invite all their friends. “Lets pull up a chair and wait for all the new business to roll in.” This is about as effective as the magic muscle builder kit that your fat neighbor bought that sits in his or her closet. Great intentions but no results.
What is needed is a critical evaluation and then a plan for implementation.
Is social networking a good fit for your company? What key strengths do you have in place? What needs to be added? How would social networking fit into your strategic business objectives? Who is the focal point here? What exactly are we going to do? Who is going to do it? What are we expecting to happen? How do we measure results?
So there is a list of critical questions to be answered and then a concerted effort to find the fit and the opportunity.
Here is the Stu-pendous offer from Stu the Social Animal. Send me email asking for the Stu-Pendous Social Media Appraisal form. This starts at a very strategic level with your business objectives and you can do some simple homework to drill down and make sense of it. It is so easy to know where hard work creates business and to be distracted by the new shiny object that distracts.
Or feel free to call. Whichever you feel would be the most helpful.
