Lets Demo Compelling vs Boring Content

Lets Demo the Difference between Compelling and Boring  Content

Who remembers the old TV commercial about E F Hutton? You know when E F Hutton talks, people listen. That is the definition of compelling content.

So imagine you are at a Networking event and you say the following words…

I really enjoy being a personal trainer – why just this week Sue – a favorite client came in and hugged me – she said she had lost 35 pounds and 9 inches off her hips… that just made me feel so good. And the bottom line, all she did were 2 simple things…

So now imagine 16 women are within earshot of you… and these women have really good hearing because you are just talking to a friend…

Do you think they are listening to you? Do you think your content was compelling?

Now for some of the male portion of this audience -you will have to have an out-of-body experience. But you see the billions spent to entice women to buy beauty products and a good number of us have been asked by the women in our lives “Am I looking a little heavier”  So you understand that this fictional conversation would be compelling content…

So lets take this example  to the Internet. You are talking on your blog or website trying to create compelling content. People hear you by searching for your keywords or hearing from their friends that Joe the personal trainer helped Sue reduce her weight and hip size… People approach you and ask questions by direct response to your website or blog…

I think you all understand what I am saying… and, of course, there are a number of technical details to not trip over- making sure you can be found and heard on the Internet for one thing… and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me….

But contrast this to content that is not compelling…

a boastful personal trainer is talking loudly to be overheard in the other corner of the networking event.

We have the very best in new technology…We have 14 stations of the Gizmo 400  Our superiority is evidenced by…

Not Compelling content.

So here is the puzzle. What compelling story can you tell about your business? What story line do you need to change that is not really compelling?
You have to change to better match what your market wants. Or you will be left standing in the corner talking louder and louder because people seem to be moving farther away…

Any questions or concerns? Feel free to add a comment. Feel free to call or email. Feel free to ask if your hips are looking bigger…
